Many people think that we just wait until fall and pick up pecans, we wish it were that simple but this could'nt be further from the truth.  Growing pecans is a year round venture.  When we are not in the "harvest" season we are busy maintaining the orchards by pruning limbs, mowing, spraying, fertilizing, and scouting weekly to see what we should or should not be doing.

The harvest season usually starts in October.  Equipment used during this time includes shakers, sweepers, harvesters, and wagons.  The first step after you determine the pecans are ready involves the shaker.  The driver will select a limb and gently vibrate the limb to coax the pecans out of tree.  Unfortunately when you "shake" the tree limbs fall as well as pecans which you have to pick up before any work can continue.   Next  you have the sweeper that "sweeps" the pecans into a row.  The harvester can then follow the row and pick up the pecans and collect them in a wagon which when full will be transferred into a larger wagon to transport the pecans to a processing plant.

Once the pecans arrive at the processing plant all the trash ( leaves, sticks, etc.) is separated and the nuts are sorted according to size, weight, and variety.

Since you are buying direct from the grower we can select the best of the best for you.  We are committed to bringing you the finest nuts available and your satisfaction is guaranteed.
